Trochu Jiný Catering
— Contact · the first conversation

Let's start by sitting down together.

One message is enough: phone or email. That's where it begins; everything else I'll guide you through. The forms, tastings and questions below are aids if they help. You don't have to use them.

One sentence is enough: „Edith, we have a wedding in September, 80 people, can we talk?“ The rest we'll work out in conversation.

— What happens next

From the first email
to a finished proposal.

You write one sentence or call for 30 seconds. I take it from there. Here's the whole arc, so you know what you're walking into. It usually takes 7–10 days.

— Step 01
Within 24 hours

A short reply

with a few questions.

Date, venue, headcount, the style you have in mind. If you don't know something yet, say so. It's fine.

— Step 02
The next day

A 20-minute

phone call.

We talk through the day, the guests, the space, the feel. I'll tell you straight away whether I can fit the date and whether it's a match for what I do.

— Step 03
Within the week

Tasting,

or a site visit.

At the reservoir, or I come to you. Coffee, two boards, a selection of ingredients, colour-tuning. This is where the proposal starts to make sense.

— Step 04
Within five days after

Proposal in PDF.

One document.

Line-by-line budget, no small print. Valid for 14 days. After that I'd rather pass it on, because I keep dates deliberately scarce.

— Helpers, not obligations

What helps.
And what you needn't worry about.

One sentence in a phone call or email is enough, I'll ask the rest. This table is for people who like to prepare. You don't have to. I'll guide you through everything else.

— Yes, helpful

Five things that
help me.

  • ✓A rough headcount. 15? 50? 200? A range is enough, you don't need an exact number.
  • ✓A date or a period. Something like „end of August“ or „the weekend around 12 September“.
  • ✓Where it will be. An address, farm, salon, your own garden. If you don't know yet, at least the region.
  • ✓One important detail. A colour, a dietary exception, the one guest you want to honour.
  • ✓A budget idea. Even as a range. I'll tell you straight away if I can fit.
— No, don't worry

Five things you
don't need to bring.

  • ✕A finished menu idea. That's literally my job, that's why I'm here.
  • ✕Pinterest references. You can bring them, but you don't have to. I don't build from inspiration, I build for you.
  • ✕A polished budget. A range is enough. If I can't fit, I'll say so in the first sentence.
  • ✕A final headcount. We tune that the week before. ±10 guests is no problem at all.
  • ✕Knowing whether you want it. A call to find out is fine. I won't push. If it isn't for you, I'll say so.

— Atelier

An old workshop
by the water.

Wooden tables, a brass lamp, a view of the water, an espresso machine you can hear across the room. This is where you come for a tasting and a conversation. Most clients say they leave feeling like the planning is already done.

I'll lay out two small boards so you can taste what we're talking about. While you eat, we go over the day, the guests, the small details. No presentation, no PowerPoint.

Prefer a form
over email?

It makes no difference to me, it lands in the same inbox. But email or phone are just as good, often faster. Leave anything you don't know blank, I'll ask in conversation.

Planning a wedding? Lovely. Send me the date, the venue and a rough headcount. Details like flowers, cake or seating, we'll tune those later. No rush.

No pressure, this is Edith writing, not an assistant. Reply within 24 hours.

What you write, only Edith reads. Nothing gets passed on, nothing into databases. After a year of silence the contact gets deleted.

— Small worries

What clients
ask most often
before they pick up the phone.

It's usually not about catering, it's about you. Whether it's awkward to get in touch. It isn't.

That's fine. Most of my clients start this way. Send me three sentences: roughly when, how many people, what you'd like to feel. I'll reply and you'll see whether it makes sense to keep going. No commitment.
No. I don't use sales techniques. When we're on the phone, we're talking about your day. When you get the proposal, you have 14 days. After that I'd rather pass it on, because I keep dates deliberately limited.
You won't be. No newsletter, no retargeting. If you say „no, thanks“, that's it. If what you need isn't me, I'll recommend colleagues who do other formats: hot food, finger food, buffets. Catering is a small circle in Brno; I know them.
Of course. Most couples come together. With companies I often see an assistant plus a director. With parties, sometimes three of you. The atelier handles it, I'll lay out a bigger table, top up the coffee. Just let me know in advance.
Yes to both. I work in English in writing too: proposal in EN, materials in EN. My German is conversational at best; in writing I prefer EN.
Anywhere in the Czech Republic. Prague, Moravia, the foothills, wherever. For further events I quote travel separately, itemised in the proposal. I've been outside Czechia three times so far, and when it makes sense, I'll go.
— In closing

Get in touch whichever way suits you. I'm not waiting for a professional brief, I'm waiting for a person who wants to put on one beautiful day.

Easy, please. From your first message on, I've got it.
